2) Your final exam: For section 10, one of the student presentation questions was worded wrongly on the exam. As a result, I have awarded one point to everyone to compensate for that question. There were no such errors in Section 11 and therefore, no points have been added.

3) Final project: I have been very liberal in grading this project. I will not entertain any request for upgrading the score because “you just feel it is very low.” If you want to see me about grade changes in this area,

All grades have been rounded off to the nearest whole number. Please do not contact me with requests for 0.5 points or 0.25 points to push your letter grade to the next level. I will not entertain such requests.

Internship Opportunity

The Delaware Counsel Group, LLP, a women-owned Wilmington, Delaware based law firm that has a boutique practice advising on business transaction nationally and internationally, is seeking a marketing intern for the 2006 semester. The internship position will allow a business administration student to actively participate in the strategic planning, marketing, operations and client development efforts of the law firm. The internship position reports directly to firm management.

Duties include:
*Preparing marketing materials, including the compiling of presentations and proposals;
*Coordinating national and international speaking engagements working directly with conference providers;
*Maintaining the firm’s database of contacts and preparing mailings, both electronic and print, to the database;
*Interacting with the law firm’s Public Relations Consultant on current projects and necessary follow-up; and

If you wish to provide feedback on the online course evaluation process, there is also a link for that on the student log in page.

Please remember that I do not have access to any of your responses till Dec. 8. Even on Dec. 8, I do not get any access to individual responses or your personal information. You need to complete all the requirements for you blog project on or before midnight on Nov. 22, 2005.

Here is a checklist of what your blog should contain:

1) at least 12 postings on your blog: Sept. 9 was the deadline for the first post. Counting from that week till the week of Nov. 22, you should have had at least 12 posts.
2) Your profile should be updated: don’t give out too many personal details about yourself. It would be good to see a photo of you on the blog. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL SO THAT I CAN EMAIL YOU FROM THE BLOG.
3) You have either added or updated the “Links” section on your blog with links that are relevant to your blog/class. Make sure that you have included a link to your bloglines account (use your bloglines public url: It is in the following format: http://www.bloglines.com/public/userid).

Ultimately, what we are looking for are candidates that are interested in going through the above track. We start everyone in Global Customer Support for 2-6 months and then they move onto the Entry Level Financial Training Program position for about 8-12 months before moving into a consulting sales role which is very relationship-management based. The reason we have this track is to make sure that everyone has a solid foundation with Bloomberg, the company, before tackling the financial markets and our product, the Bloomberg Professional Service, in the Entry Level Financial Training program role.

SMU Business Plan Competition

Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition 2005/2006

The Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition 2005/2006 was launched on 5 October 2005. Organised by the Singapore Management University, the Competition is open to undergraduates from universities, colleges and polytechnics from around the world. Students stand a chance to vie for a share of the US$69,000 in cash prizes and an all expenses paid trip to Singapore to compete in the Final in July 2006.

Participants are required to submit a 2000 word business plan on-line at www.smu.edu.sg. Deadline for submission is Wednesday, 29 March 2006. Registration and submission details are on the same site.

Class Schedule Change for Job Fair

!!IMPORTANT!!

The CEO of American SecuriComm has kindly agreed to visit the class on Sept. 29 (instead of Sept. 27) so that you can go to the Job Jamboree!

We will still have class on Sept. 27 (I cannot cancel class for the event!) and I will be discussing Chapter 7 and answers any questions that people might have about their blogs.

The groups presenting Chapter 7 can choose to do it on Sept. 27 (at the end of class) or on Oct. 4 (at the beginning of class)

The class will be held in the lab as scheduled so that we can do some hands-on work on the blogs.

You can attend either sections of my class on that day. I am hoping that even if you are not able to attend your regular section you might attend the other one after you are done with your career fair.

Adding Folders to your bloglines account

Here's how you will add folders to your bloglines account.

1) once you have added a blog (the instructions for that have been discussed earlier) to the bloglines account, click on that blog. The blog will appear on the right hand side of your bloglines screen...on the top of that screen you will see a blue band that says "unsubscribe" "edit subscription" etc.
2) Click on "Edit subscription"
3) a new screen will pop open. The second item on that screen is "folder" The default for that is Top Level. Click on that window and you will see an option that says "New Folder...". Click on New Folder. It will ask you for the folder name. Give your folder a name (like, "news" or Entertainment") and then choose whichever option you want this blog to be under...for example. choose news if you want the current blog to be under news.

If you want to categorize your current subscriptions. Go to the Edit option on the left hand side of your bloglines account. there you can move your existing blogs to any folder that you have already created.
